Mansinhbhai Institute of Dairy & Food Technology (MIDFT), Mehsana established the Innovation Cell at its campus in July, 2018 to nurture the creativity and innovative ideas of the students. Under SSIP mandate, MIDFT has carried different sensitization programs, innovation contests, boot camp, expert lectures and seminars to sensitize the students about the Innovations in Dairy and Food Industry, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Novel Food Products. MIDFT have sensitized nearly 720 students, supported more than 60 innovative student projects by providing mentor and lab facilities and have supported 30 student projects at PoC stage.
The students of MIDFT have also actively participated in various flagship programs by SSIP such as Students Open Innovation Challenge, Gujarat Industrial Hackathon, Startup Runway. PoC’s supported at MIDFT mainly focus on the Innovative and Novel & Functional Food Products which will benefit the society, such as utilization of dairy waste-whey & ghee residue in developing novel beverages and products, development of fiber and iron fortified milk, development of milk tablet which shall be helpful in combating nutritional deficiency in the children.
