The University Grants Commission (UGC) has established regulations to address the issue of ragging in higher education institutions and has taken several proactive steps to raise awareness about its prevention. In observance of Anti-Ragging Day on August 12 and Anti-Ragging Week from August 12 to 18, the UGC, in collaboration with the Centre for Youth (C4Y) and the UGC National Anti-Ragging Monitoring Agency, has proposed a range of activities.
As part of this initiative, students from the B.Tech Dairy Technology program at Mansinhbhai Institute of Dairy & Food Technology (MIDFT) participated in various awareness activities, including poster-making and slogan-writing competitions, an awareness speech, a stage play, and a group discussion focused on the harmful effects of ragging and the importance of fostering a supportive campus environment. Additionally, students viewed short films and anti-ragging awareness videos, all aimed at promoting a safe, inclusive, and ragging-free atmosphere in higher education institutions.
