
The Innovation Cell (SSIP) at Mansinhbhai Institute of Dairy & Food Technology, Mehsana
organized a one day seminar on “Entrepreneur opportunities in Dairy sector and New product
development (NPD)” on 19th June 2026 under the Student Start-up & Innovation Policy (SSIP)
2.0 mandate. With regard to raise awareness and sensitize students to the emerging opportunities
and advancements in dairy sector, an expert lecture was scheduled.
Shri. Sameer Saxena, Head- QA and NPD (GCMMF-Amul, Anand) was invited as speaker for
the expert talk. He earned his B.Sc. in Dairy Technology & then M.Sc in Dairy Chemistry from
SMC college of Dairy Science, Anand. He has an experience of more than 35 years in industry
and obtained several notable awards.
About 120 students, faculties and dairy officials were sensitized through the expert lecture. The
programme was begun with prayers to seek blessings of almighty followed by honouring the
guests with flowers. Our Principal & Dean, Dr. D.A. Shukla welcome all the guests and gave an
overview of various activities conducted by Innovation Cell (SSIP) at MIDFT on regular
intervals. He also briefly discussed on different technologies developed by students under SSIP
projects.
The expert Shri. Sameer Saxena subsequently enlightened on the recent trends & future scope of
NPD with special emphasis on entrepreneurship opportunities for the young dairy technocrats.
He also gave deep insights of Food safety, health and its importance in dairy & food industry.
Students enthusiastically interacted with the expert and cherished his experience and valuable
insights on various aspects of food safety, NPD and entrepreneurship.
Shri PB Bhambi (Executive Director, MIDFT) offered his heartfelt express gratitude to the
Expert speaker and also motivated students to broaden their thinking and work on challenges
faced during dairy operations. As a token of appreciation, he facilitated expert speaker Shri.
Sameer Saxena with a memento. At the end of the programme, SSIP coordinator-MIDFT, Dr.
Ami Patel offered vote of thanks to the audience followed by light refreshment for all.
